How do you diagnose pancreatic cancer?
Academic Title: Assistant Professor
The diagnosis of pancreas cancer involves multiple diagnostic tests. Often a CT scan or MRI of the abdomen will identify an abnormality in the pancreas. An endoscopic ultrasound may identify a cancer and allow for a biopsy. In this procedure, the patient is asleep, and a flexible tube (echoendoscope) is inserted through the mouth into the stomach and intestine. There is a miniature ultrasound probe on the end of the scope that can be used to look at the pancreas.
