Volunteer Services at University Health Services
Immunization Review
All volunteers and visitors must visit UHS for an initial immunization review prior to being placed within Jefferson. The host department is responsible for ensuring volunteers or visitors have completed the Immunization Documentation form required by Jefferson. This form details the requirements that must be completed in advance of arrival and placement.
It can take 4-6 weeks to meet all of the immunization requirements. UHS does not provide immunizations to volunteers and visitors. If upon review of the immunization documentation form, it is determined that the requirements have not been met, the volunteer/visitor will be directed back to his/her host department. They will also be referred to a facility that will provide the service at their established fees for which the volunteer/visitor is responsible.
Annual Tuberculosis Screening and Influenza Vaccination
UHS performs the annual tuberculosis screening and provides the influenza vaccination as a complimentary service to volunteers. Volunteers and visitors must present a valid Jefferson ID badge to receive these services. International Visitors
International visitors to Jefferson are currently included in the volunteer category and must follow the same process in order to begin any assignment or visit with a department. Please view the International Visitor Health Requirements to prepare for the arrival of an international visitor to the Jefferson campus.
Role-specific Vaccinations
Under certain circumstances, the nature of the work a volunteer or visitor performs while at Jefferson requires them to have immunity to specific diseases. When an immunization, i.e. rabies vaccine, is specific to the assignment/role the person has been placed into as a volunteer or visitor, UHS will provide the m with the immunizations. In addition, there will be no cost to the volunteer or visitor for this service.
