The Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Biology at Jefferson maintains clinical activities for the treatment of all types
of skin disorders in adults as well as children in a recently expanded pediatric dermatology section. Specially trained faculty
utilize advanced conventional, Mohs and laser surgical techniques to provide patients with the most flexible options for effective
treatment of a wide range of skin conditions and for removal of skin lesions. Expansion of existing satellite offices and
the addition of new ones extend the services of the Department to patients throughout the Delaware Valley.
In addition to patient care, the Department’s world class research programs facilitate clinical studies, investigate advances
in dermatologic therapies and engage in studies of genetic skin diseases, connective-tissue disorders and skin cancers. The
Department is also internationally renowned as an education facility, providing residency training in dermatology, rotation
programs for physician training in related specialties such as Family Medicine, education of medical students and certificate
programs for international students. In 1998, the Department was ranked highest in National Institutes of Health funding among
dermatology departments nationwide.
