How quickly after my colonoscopy can I go home? When will I be able to resume my normal diet and daily activities?

You will be able to go home within roughly an hour after your colonoscopy is completed. During this time, you will wake up from the anesthesia given during the procedure and the doctor will discuss the results of the procedure with you. You will need someone to drive you home after the procedure, as you may feel groggy from the anesthesia. It is often best to have light meals for the remainder of the day after your colonoscopy has been completed. You will be able to resume your normal diet and daily activities on the day after your colonoscopy.
