My husband was told he has an inoperable tumor, what are our options in terms of treatment and making him comfortable?

You need to have him evaluated by an experienced surgeon to find out if he might be offered surgery if the tumor is down-staged by chemotherapy and radiation. If this is a possibility, he will also need to see a medical oncologist to review these treatments and potential side effects.

Often chemotherapy with or without radiation can be given even if a tumor is not surgically resectable to treat pain and/or to slow down the tumor’s progression and prolong life. Supportive care, pain control and hospice care are also options that can be discussed with your husband’s medical oncologist.
