The treatment for prostate cancer that is only in the prostate is very different from prostate cancer that has spread outside of the prostate. Non-aggressive forms of prostate cancer rarely spread outside the prostate whereas more aggressive forms may spread to the lymph nodes and bones. The standard tests include a CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis and a bone scan where sites of cancer outside the prostate may be identified.
