What is your position as to DRE/PSA screening for age 75? I have had these checks on a regular basis for the past 20 years - PSA 0.8 to 2.8, no nodules on DRE. Thanks.

The issue of screening an older man with no symptoms relating to the prostate or prostate cancer is very controversial. The reason for this is that many older men will harbor unimportant or so called "autopsy" cancers that will never harm them. Discovering these unimportant cancers can lead to unnecessary anxiety and treatment for prostate cancer that may never harm the man.
