About Erythroplakia

Information

Erythroplakia Treatment at Jefferson

Erythroplakia is a flat red patch or lesion that appears on the floor of the mouth or the tongue and can be precancerous. If not treated, these cells could go on to develop into cancer. Leukoplakia, white patches that develop on the tongue or the inside of the cheek, is commonly found alongside erythroplakia. For expert diagnosis and treatment, turn to Jefferson.

Our oral surgeons may perform a biopsy of the lesion to confirm the diagnosis and will recommend various treatment options, such as surgery to remove the lesion.
