About Laryngeal Papilloma

Information

Laryngeal Papilloma Treatment at Jefferson

Laryngeal papilloma is a rare condition that is caused by HPV (human papillomavirus), an infection of the throat. Tumors, or "papillomas," can develop over a period of time and recur frequently. The typical symptom is hoarseness but occasionally the papillomas become large enough to cause airway symptoms with difficulty breathing.

If you're experiencing hoarseness or a strained or breathy voice, otolaryngologists and speech-language pathologists of the Jefferson Voice and Swallowing Center in Philadelphia can diagnose your condition with a biopsy or a laryngoscopy.

If you are found to have laryngeal papilloma, our otolaryngologists will recommend a treatment course to control the problem.
