Thomas Jefferson University Hospital

DEPARTMENT OF EMERGENCY MEDICINE

The Department of Emergency Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital offers world-class emergency services that are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Center City and Methodist Hospital in South Philadelphia. Both hospitals’ emergency departments are staffed by attending and resident physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses, technicians and ancillary staff specially trained in emergency medicine. In addition, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is both a Level I Trauma Center and a federally designated Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center.

Jefferson’s Emergency Department offers advanced care options by teaming up with the hospital programs and centers for chest pain, stroke, trauma, sexual assault and sickle cell. Jefferson and Methodist – as well as other hospitals throughout the region – rely on transportation and training services from JeffSTAT. And physicians throughout the region can help patients access Jefferson’s emergency and other medical services through one call to the Jefferson Transfer Center.

In addition to emergency care, Jefferson’s Department of Emergency Medicine is also home to the hospital’s Travel Medicine Services and Bioterrorism/Disaster Center.

In a true medical emergency, always go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
