Emergency Department

Sickle Cell Program
The Emergency Department at Jefferson is experienced in treating individuals who are in crisis from sickle cell anemia. We leverage the experience and resources of Jefferson’s Comprehensive Sickle Cell Program – which offers compassionate, long-term care of people living with sickle cell disease.

In addition to services available through the Emergency Department, the program offers a Sickle Day Unit, where uncomplicated painful episodes are treated. This unit provides care for patients who do not require hospitalization, but who need focused attention.

In a true medical emergency, always go to the nearest emergency room or call 911.
