Complementing its clinical care role, JHI selectively supports basic research in the form of fundamental and applied research
as well as clinical research programs in cardiovascular medicine and surgery that promise to advance state-of-the-art heart
disease diagnosis and treatment. In addition, JHI provides a wide range of educational programs specifically designed for
medical students, residents, cardiac fellows, cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons in training, as well as for practicing
cardiologists, internists, other physicians and nurses in the community, and the public.
