JeffSTAT’s Communications Center operates 24 hours a day. Using a computer-aided dispatch (CAD) system, JeffSTAT’s dispatchers continuously track the status and location of all vehicles and transport teams. The dispatchers in the Communications Center maintain constant contact with personnel via digital pagers, two-way radios and cellular telephones. They are responsible for scheduling and coordinating all of the logistics associated with each transport. The dispatchers work side by side with coordinators from the Jefferson Transfer Center to facilitate physician-to-physician communication for acceptance and to coordinate bed assignments at Jefferson’s Hospitals.
