Methodist Hospital has been serving the healthcare needs of the South Philadelphia community since 1892. Today, the hospital remains dedicated to improving the health of area residents through additional education, outreach and support.
Experts from the hospital lead community programs on managing diabetes effectively, including nutrition classes with meal planning tips; the popular Victor Method heart-healthy cooking and lecture series; and bereavement support groups. In addition, the hospital provides free health education and screenings throughout the year, free mammograms to the uninsured and free flu immunizations – all designed to enhance the wellbeing of local residents and your surrounding community.
Methodist also partners with various organizations including The Caring People Alliance, South Broad Street Neighborhood Civic Association, the Fels Community Center, Penn Asian Senior Services, Unity Health Clinic, the Philadelphia Senior Center, Tindley Temple, and area high schools to serve the healthcare needs of your neighborhoods. The Southeast Asian Outreach Program, Tools for Caregivers, Parish Nursing Program and our High School Internship Program are just some examples of programs which have resulted from such collaborations. The hospital also supports, and participates in, many South Philadelphia activities, including the Italian Festival, the Mummers Parade and local health fairs and food drives.
