Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI)

Methodist Hospital is the first in the Delaware Valley to offer BSGI (Gammogram) for the early detection of breast cancer. BSGI helps doctors find the most obscure breast cancers by allowing doctors to see abnormal cellular activity. It is an easier, more comfortable method of detecting breast cancer for women with a questionable finding on a mammogram, dense breast tissue, scar tissue from previous surgery, or implants. If breast cancer is found in one area, BSGI helps doctors see if other areas of the same breast are affected, or if there is cancer in the opposite breast. Breast compression is not required, and results are immediately available for a radiologist to review.

BSGI is available at Methodist Hospital’s Women’s Diagnostic Center. For more information on BSGI please call 215-952-9169. To schedule an appointment, please call Central Scheduling at 215-952-1234.
