MRI
Methodist Hospital's GE Signa Excite MRI with 8-channel technology
allows faster and better imaging capabilities, especially
for vascular, neurological, abdominal, and breast imaging.
Additional technology features include:
- Propeller technology that is much less sensitive to patient
motion, and decreases "noise" from surrounding
organs and objects, such as dental work, that normally interferes
with image clarity.
- TRICKS technology, which helps improve the quality of
vascular images affected by timing of contrast delivery.
- ASSET technology, which greatly reduces scan time.
- Dynamic imaging capability taking pictures before, during
and after contrast. This helps highlight areas of abnormality
that may require additional study.
- Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) technology helps determine
if a stroke is new or old.
The new Excite MRI offers key benefits for patients, such
as increased imaging speed. With the new Medrad Spectris Solaris
power injector, the Excite can start taking images while the
patient is being given contrast.
The Excite also has a shorter scanner, open at both ends,
which decreases patient anxiety. During lower extremity exams,
ranging from the thigh to the foot, the patient's head is
not in the scanner at all.
Outpatient, non-emergency, MRI studies at Methodist Hospital
are usually available within 10 days, which is competitive
with many private radiology facilities. To schedule an exam,
