Southeast Asian Outreach Program

Southeast Asian Outreach ProgramAs part of our dedication to the Asian community in South Philadelphia, Methodist Hospital has created the Southeast Asian Outreach Program.

Led by Outreach Coordinator Trang Pham, this program seeks to bridge understanding between the Southeast Asian community and Methodist Hospital staff. Trang and her staff are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 215-952-1400. Her offices are located on the first floor of Methodist Hospital. This program provides our non-English speaking patients with an Intercultural Mediator who can:

  • Make appointments and ask health-related questions on behalf of patients

  • Accompany patients on appointments and translate information

  • Fill out forms, such as those needed for insurance reimbursement

  • Visit the pharmacy with patients to help them obtain prescription medications

  • Explain how to properly take prescription medications, and discuss possible drug interactions with the pharmacist

  • Explain test results and healthcare options
The staff at Methodist Hospital respects the cultural differences of all patients. Doctors, nurses and other clinical specialists try to explain every thing they do so that patients can make healthcare decisions in accordance with their own cultural values. We want patients to make decisions that will make them feel comfortable.

Whether you need to stay in the hospital or schedule a doctor's appointment, Methodist Hospital's Southeast Asian Outreach Program can help you.

Visiting a doctor or staying in the hospital can be difficult, even when you speak the same language. With the Southeast Asian Outreach Program at Methodist Hospital, it is much easier.
