The Department of Urology at Methodist Hospital provides expert, state-of-the-art urological care for men and women.
What is Urology?
Urology is a surgical specialty concerned with the urinary tract in both genders and with the male genital tract and reproductive system. Urologists often work closely with nephrologists and gynecologists to treat conditions affecting the kidneys and bladder.
About Us:
At Methodist, we offer a full complement of urologic services for men and women, and many innovative treatments including:
- Management of prostate disease, including voiding dysfunction with laser surgery and minimally invasive office-based prostate procedures.
- Female urology – Diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to urinary incontinence and control.
- Comprehensive kidney stone management, including laser surgery and lithotripsy (a procedure which uses shock waves to break up stones in the kidney, bladder, or ureter)
- Laparoscopic surgery – Surgical procedures in which a fiberoptic instrument is inserted through a small incision in the abdomen and used to perform surgery on the kidney, ureters, bladder and prostate.
- Treatment of urinary tract infections – bacterial infections of the urethra, bladder, ureters or kidneys.
Please visit our Department’s Jefferson homepage for a complete listing of our capabilities. Our specialists see patients in South Philadelphia and perform procedures at Methodist Hospital.
