The Department of Neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience treats more patients with disorders of the spine and spinal cord than any other program in the northeastern United States. Comprehensive evaluation and surgical management for spine problems is available and offers residents exposure to a panoply of surgical approaches, ranging from simple disk surgery to complex anterior and posterior reconstructive, instrumentation-based procedures. Furthermore, management of spine tumors and spinal cord injury is emphasized and complemented by a large clinical volume and a significant research initiative.
