Multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Center
Since 1994, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson have provided the most innovative
treatment available to patients with brain tumors. Now, physicians in three Jefferson departments – Radiation Oncology, Neurosurgery
and Medical Oncology – have joined together to expand the service at the new Jefferson Multidisciplinary Brain Tumor Center.
At this center, patients can meet with a radiation oncologist, a neurosurgeon and a medical oncologist at one location, during
one visit. Aside from being convenient for patients, our multidisciplinary approach:
- Enables specialists from these different medical disciplines to come up with a seamless and carefully coordinated global care
plan for a patient in just a few minutes. This is most beneficial because sometimes, a delay in treatment could be detrimental
to the patient.
- Avoids so much of the confusion that can occur when patients are forced to search for different specialists.
- Facilitates patients’ access to the latest treatment protocols, thanks to the variety of innovative clinical trials conducted
at Jefferson.
