Michael Moussouttas, MDAfter graduating from New York University, Dr. Moussouttas completed medical training at the State University of New York
Science Center in Syracuse. Dr. Moussouttas did his neurology residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, and subspecialty
training in Cerebrovascular Diseases at Yale New Haven Hospital in CT, and in Neurocritical Care at Columbia University Medical
Center in NY.
Dr. Moussouttas is board certified in neurology, vascular neurology, and neurosonology. He has procedural expertise in cervical
duplex and transcranial ultrasound imaging, and in basic science animal models of cerebral ischemia. His research endeavors
have included self initiated projects, and participation in multicenter trials of preventive and acute therapies for cerebrovascular
disease.
Dr. Moussouttas joined the Cerebrovascular & Neurocritical Care division and became Assistant Professor of Neurology at Jefferson
Medical College in 2007. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Heart Association, Neurocritical Care
Society, and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
Dr. Moussouttas has published articles pertaining to vascular and critical care neurology in several peer reviewed journals,
has authored book chapters on neurovascular ultrasound, and has served as a reviewer of manuscripts for various neurology
journals. His current research interests revolve around the cardiac and cerebral vascular complications of aneurismal subarachnoid
hemorrhage.
