What to Expect

Interested in saving time? Fill out new patient forms at your convenience. Download and fill out our new patient paperwork at home and bring it with you on the day of your appointment.

For patients, it’s often helpful to know what to expect from your healthcare encounter. On this page, we provide a step-by-step explanation of what occurs once you initiate contact with the Jefferson Sleep Disorders Center:

Step 1

Your first step is to schedule an initial consultation with a Jefferson sleep specialist. When you schedule your appointment, we will provide you with an in-depth patient questionnaire. Please fill out the questionnaire completely before your appointment and remember to bring it with you.

Step 2

The next step is your initial consultation. Please allow an hour and a half for the appointment, which will also include a tour of our facility. Depending on the outcome of your consultation, the physician may order a sleep study. If so, we will schedule your study before you leave the Center.

Step 3

If you are scheduled for a sleep study, simply arrive with your personal items on the day of the test. The Center provides the convenience and amenities you would expect from a hotel. (For night studies, the Center is open from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., so you should eat dinner before your arrival.).

Step 4

Following your initial consultation and/or sleep study, we’ll ask you to schedule a follow-up appointment. During this appointment, the physician will review the results of your sleep study and/or recommend treatments.

Step 5

Once you have initiated treatment, we recommend that you follow up with your Jefferson sleep specialist every six to 12 months.
