Jefferson Medical College’s “Match Day” 2004 Defining Moment for Future Doctors
EVENT: Since their freshman year, senior medical students from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, and other
U.S. medical schools, have anticipated this day--National Match Day, an emotional climax to their four years of medical education.
This year, 237 Jefferson medical students will open notices of placement for their medical residency programs--at the same
time as their peers around the nation. In a matter of seconds, they will discover where they have matched to pursue their
future education in the new century. At the same time, these placements will define the course of medicine and patient care
in the coming years.
GUESTS: Students will be in the company of friends and family as they receive the letters “matching” them to a residency program
and informing them about the hospitals where they will spend the next one to seven years of their lives in postgraduate medical
training.
DATE: Thursday, March 18
