White Coat Procession and Health Policy Issues Featured at Investiture of Health Policy Chair at Jefferson Medical College

EVENT: A “white coat” procession of Jefferson Medical College chairs will be held in honor of the investiture of fellow chair David
Nash, M.D., MBA, recently named the Dr. Raymond C. and Doris N. Grandon Chair of Health Policy, Jefferson Medical College
of Thomas Jefferson University.
Dr. Nash, the Dr. Raymond C. and Doris N. Grandon Professor of Health Policy, will also address health policy issues during
remarks. Dr. Nash is nationally recognized for his work in pharmaceutical economics, outcomes management, medical staff development,
quality-of-care improvement and managed care medical education.
The Department of Health Policy, under the direction of Dr. Nash, develops long-term strategies to prepare health-care providers
for the challenges of a dynamic health-care environment. The office serves as a key contributor to the education and research
programs of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and Jefferson Medical College.
BACKGROUND: Raymond C. Grandon, M.D., who is endowing the chair, earned the doctor of medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College
in 1946. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Grandon entered private practice as a solo practitioner. An internist with
a special interest in cardiovascular care, Dr. Grandon was responsible for the first televised heart operation in the United
States. He was also a clinical investigator of cardio-active drugs and helped to coordinate the nation’s first commercially
successful cardiac rehabilitation program.
