Cardiothoracic surgeon Linda J. Bogar, M.D., has joined the Division of Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia.

Dr. Bogar, who is board-certified in general surgery, has been named assistant professor of Surgery, Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, and associate program director of the thoracic surgery residency program at Jefferson University Hospital. Her areas of research and clinical interest include adult cardiac and thoracic surgery, cardiac transplantation, ventricular assist devices and off-pump coronary bypass surgery.

Dr. Bogar recently completed a residency in cardiothoracic surgery at Jefferson University Hospital. She also completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic transplantation, a residency in surgery and a research fellowship in surgery, all at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia.

Dr. Bogar is a member of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the Association of Women Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery.

She received a doctor of medicine degree in 1993 from Temple University School of Medicine and a bachelor of arts degree in chemistry/pre-medicine in 1989 from Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pa.
