“Living Strong with Cancer” First in Series of Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson Workshops for Young Adult Cancer Survivors
The Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson on Wednesday, November 10, will hold the first in a series of workshops being offered
to young adult cancer patients, as part of a new support program, Navigating the New Normal.
“Living Strong with Cancer: Regaining Strength and Stamina During and After Cancer Treatment” will be presented from noon
to 1:30 p.m. in the Simon Kramer Conference Room, Bodine Center, Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, 111 South 11th Street,
Philadelphia. Refreshments and free parking will be provided.
Andrea Cheville, M.D., Director of Cancer Rehabilitation at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center, during the workshop
will discuss rebuilding strength and regaining a sense of physical well being during and after cancer treatment. She will
focus on effective ways to cope with and combat fatigue, muscle weakness and other effects of cancer treatment.
Thanks to a grant from the Lance Armstrong Foundation, the Kimmel Cancer Center’s Navigating the New Normal offers a comprehensive
psychosocial support and education program to help young adult cancer survivors between the ages of 18 to 40 navigate the
“new normal” that a cancer diagnosis can bring.
