Jefferson’s Farber Institute for Neurosciences to Host Open House for New Ph.D. Program in Neuroscience
The Farber Institute for Neurosciences and the Jefferson College of Graduate Studies of Thomas Jefferson University will host
an open house to provide more information about the new Ph.D. Program in Neuroscience. Interested individuals will have opportunities
to meet with faculty, staff and graduate students of the Ph.D. program.
The Ph.D. Program in Neuroscience combines classroom, seminar and laboratory study in a range of disciplines, such as cell
and molecular neurobiology, biochemistry and genetics. It is designed to arm graduating students with the skills and experience
needed to pursue a career in education and/or research in academe or industry.
“Jefferson’s new Graduate Program in Neuroscience combines hands-on training, senior scientists, and an interdisciplinary
curriculum to expose students to a range of neuroscience topics and research methods,” says program director Elisabeth Van
Bockstaele, Ph.D.
“The neurosciences are poised to make exciting new discoveries and develop improved treatments for a number of neurological
disorders,” Dr. Van Bockstaele says. “The new Jefferson program will help train the next generation of researchers and clinicians
to meet the demands of the coming decades.”
