Jefferson Medical Students Hope Luck O' The Irish Will Be on Their Side on National Match Day
EVENT:
More than 200 senior medical students from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University are probably hoping that
“the luck of the Irish” will be with them, since the day they learn if they got their first choice for a medical residency
falls on St. Patrick’s Day.
Jefferson medical students, along with students from all other medical schools in the nation, will reach an emotional climax
in their medical education on National Match Day. They will simultaneously open notices of placement and discover what hospital
they have matched with to pursue their future education upon graduation. These placements will define the course of medicine
and patient care in the coming years.
GUESTS:
Students will be in the company of friends and family as they receive the letters “matching” them to the hospital they will
spend the next one to seven years of their lives in postgraduate medical training.
