WXPN Musicians on Call Launches at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital
Patients at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital will have the opportunity to enjoy bedside musical performances, thanks to
a local radio station.
“Musicians on Call” is a nonprofit organization that uses music and entertainment to promote and complement the healing process
for hospital patients. In Philadelphia, they are presented by WXPN, the listener-supported radio station of the University
of Pennsylvania.
Each Wednesday night, WXPN
Musicians on Call will entertain patients in their rooms at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
To kick off the program, an opening event was held on Monday, June 19, in the
Jefferson University Hospital atrium. Local musician Mutlu and Kenli Mattus, from New York City, performed for the staff,
physicians and guests of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
Thomas Jefferson University Hospital has major programs for heart disease, cancer treatment, neuroscience, high-risk childbirth,
genetics, radiology, orthopaedics, digestive diseases and many other areas of medicine and surgery. It is one of only a few

center. Jefferson’s Kimmel Cancer is designated as a clinical cancer center by the National Cancer Institute.
