Representatives from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), Magee Rehab, the Philadelphia Fire Department, Philadelphia and Pennsylvania State Police, the Pennsylvania division of the American Trauma Society, as well as Jefferson University Hospital’s trauma team will show ways in which people can act in a safer manner to avoid preventable traumas.

Representatives from Jefferson University Hospital departments including the Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center, JeffSTAT, nursery, pediatrics, nursing, environmental health and safety and security will also provide trauma prevention tips.

The Trauma Program at Jefferson will also be selling bicycle helmets for $8.00 each.

Background:
Jefferson is an officially designated Level 1 Regional

Resource Trauma Center. It is one of only 18 hospitals in

the U.S. that are both a designated Trauma Center and a Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center. Patients with the most serious injuries are brought to Jefferson by the emergency medical squads and by physician-initiated transfer from other hospitals. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, Jefferson also conducts research and continuing education programs for health professionals in trauma care.
