Bettina Herbert, M.D., a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation, has joined the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.

Dr. Herbert works collaboratively with patients and medical colleagues to provide recovery in all areas of function and to improve quality of life. Her special interests include medicine for performing and fine artists as well as for athletes, stroke recovery, spinal cord injury, brain injury, trauma, stress reduction, acute and chronic pain, women’s health and visceral and cranial manipulation. 

In addition to recommending physical therapy, medications and surgery, when necessary, Dr. Herbert also has the special skill of diagnosing and treating patients with her hands using osteopathic manipulative medicine. She also counsels patients how to better maintain their health and wellness.

Dr. Herbert received her bachelor of arts degree from Cornell University and earned her medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where she also studied at the College of Osteopathic Medicine. She received her specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Thomas Jefferson University. 

The Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine has a leading role in the evaluation and integration of promising complementary approaches to healing.  At its clinical site, Jefferson physicians incorporate nutritional, herbal and homeopathic therapies into a comprehensive patient care approach.  Other Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center therapists provide acupuncture, therapeutic massage, nutritional counseling, mindfulness mediation for stress reduction, movement therapy, yoga, light therapy, and wellness and prevention programs.
