Saki Santorelli, Ed.D., MA, Mindfulness Meditation Teacher and Author, to Present a Special One Day Workshop
Saki Santorelli, Ed.D., M.A., the nationally acclaimed leader in bringing Mindfulness Meditation into western healthcare and
society, will present “A Day of Mindfulness—Meeting Yourself, Meeting the Other,” a full-day workshop on Saturday, May 19.

Dr. Santorelli is executive director of the Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Healthcare and Society at the University of
Massachusetts Medical School. He is also associate professor of Medicine in the division of Preventive and Behavioral Medicine.
A popular guest at workshops nationwide, he is the author of ‘Heal Thy Self: Lessons on Mindfulness in Medicine.” Dr. Santorelli has co-authored scientific papers on the clinical application of mindfulness and has written a number of articles
and monographs on MBSR.
“This workshop is an opportunity to experience guided mindfulness meditation practices with one of the foremost leaders in
the field,” explains Diane Reibel, Ph.D., director of the Stress Reduction Program at the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for
Integrative Medicine. “The goal is to help participants to better cultivate and integrate mindfulness in their everyday life.”
Offered by the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based
Art Therapy are popular 8-week classes that help participants reduce anxiety, depression, pain and medical symptoms, and promote
vitality and well-being. Mindfulness meditation quiets the mind and releases physical distress.
Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center for Integrative Medicine has a leading role in the evaluation and integration of promising complementary
approaches to healing. At its clinical site, Jefferson physicians incorporate nutritional, herbal and homeopathic therapies
into a comprehensive patient care approach. Other Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center therapists provide acupuncture, therapeutic
massage, nutritional counseling, mindfulness mediation for stress reduction, movement therapy, yoga light therapy, and wellness

Participants are encouraged to bring a brown bag lunch and to wear comfortable, casual clothing that will enable them to stretch
and lie on the floor. They should bring yoga mats or blankets to lie on, and firm cushions or pillows for sitting on the floor.
