Richard G. Pestell, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, will be the keynote speaker at Kimmel’s eighth annual “Celebration of Life” on June 7.  The event will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Bluemle Life Sciences Building on the campus of Thomas Jefferson University, 233 S. 10th St.

 “Celebration of Life” honors the lives and accomplishments of all cancer survivors and several survivors, including cardiologist Matthew DeCaro, M.D., Director of the Coronary Care Unit at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, will speak to more than 100 survivors and their families.     

Guests will enjoy the music of award-winning musicians accordionist Lidia Kaminska and clarinetist Jose Franch-Ballester, as well as view an exhibit of artworks created by those touched by cancer.

The celebration will also feature an interactive health expo where guests will have the opportunity to obtain information and ask questions of the staff from the Jefferson-Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine and other health professionals from Jefferson University Hospital.  Refreshments will be served.
