Anthony DiMarino, M.D. to be Honored at National Gastroenterology Conference
Anthony DiMarino, M.D., director of the division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Thomas Jefferson University and Hospital,
will be honored as an AGA (American Gastroenterological Association) Foundation Mentor at the 2007 Digestive Disease Week
(May 19 to 24) in Washington, D.C.
The only honoree from Philadelphia, Dr. DiMarino is one of 45 fellows of the American Gastroenterological Association Foundation
for Digestive Health and Nutrition who is being recognized for his mentoring and training of gastroenterology trainees in
academic settings. The organization has a membership of 18,000.
“One of the great joys of academic life has been the ability to participate in the mentoring of medical students, residents,
fellows and young faculty,” Dr. DiMarino says. “I am honored to receive this award.”
Dr. DiMarino’s name will be permanently endowed as a 2007 Mentors Research Scholar Award. The award is a three-year grant
that is presented to promising young scientists to establish independent careers in digestive disease research and is made
once every three years in perpetuity.
The award will be presented on Sunday, May 20, at a special reception as part of the academic meeting. Many digestive disease
specialists who trained with Dr. DiMarino will attend to honor him.
