He currently directs Jefferson’s Master of Public Health program which provides graduate training, research, and service opportunities in the core content areas of public health: biostatistics, epidemiology, management and policy, behavioral and social science, and environmental science.

Prior to coming to Jefferson, Dr. Simmons was an Assistant Professor of Public Health at Drexel University School of Public Health and has taught at a variety of other universities including the University of Delaware, Delaware State University, and West Chester University.

Certified as a community health education specialist, Dr. Simmons has received a number of awards as a national and local community health education leader and for his volunteer community service with such organizations as the American Lung Association and the American Heart Association.
