Singer, Actress and Activist Olivia Newton-John to Perform for Cancer Benefit

EVENT:  Australian-born singer, actress, and breast cancer survivor Olivia Newton-John is performing at a fund-raising benefit for both Jefferson’s Kimmel Cancer Center and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre Appeal. The event is titled, “An Evening with Olivia.”

 

DATE & TIME:          Sunday, November 11, 2007
                                Private reception and dinner – 5:00 p.m.
                                Program – 8:00 p.m.
                                Concert – 8:45 p.m. - 9:15 p.m.

First three songs of the concert available for filming from the back of the theater. No flash or additional lights.

BACKGROUND:           As a cancer survivor, Olivia Newton-John has become increasingly
                                  recognized for discussing her own battle with breast cancer and for
                                  her involvement in raising public awareness of the need for early
                                  detection. Her efforts have been instrumental in creating the Olivia
                                  Newton-John Cancer Centre, scheduled to be built in Melbourne-
                                  Australia.                      

                                  Jefferson’s Kimmel Cancer Center (KCC) is one of a select group
                                  of National Cancer Institute-designated Clinical Cancer Centers in
                                  the nation. The KCC conducts more than 100 clinical trials each
                                  year aimed at the prevention and treatment of cancer, while its
                                  basic scientists work to gain a better understanding of the
                                  development and behavior of the disease. It is the cornerstone of
                                  the Jefferson Cancer Network (JCN), a consortium of more than
                                  20 institutions dedicated to improving cancer care and clinical
                                  research.
