Echocardiologist Ira S. Cohen, M.D., Joins Thomas Jefferson University’s Division of Cardiology

Ira S. Cohen, M.D., has been named director of the Electrocardiography Laboratory at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He was also appointed clinical professor of medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, joining the faculty after six years as a staff echocardiographer and attending cardiologist at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood, PA.

Prior to that, Dr. Cohen served in the same capacity at West Haven V.A. Medical center and as full-time faculty cardiologist at Yale New Haven Hospital and School of Medicine in New Haven CT.

Board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and echocardiography, Dr. Cohen, will be sub-specializing in echocardiography. His practice will include general cardiology consultation and management.

Dr. Cohen’s research in the last few years has focused on transesophageal echocardiography. This has been the focus of his scientific pursuits and has led to over 50 peer reviewed publications and 15 book chapters during his career.

He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the American Society of Echocardiography.
