Erik S. Knudsen, Ph.D., former Scientific Director of the University of Cincinnati Barrett Cancer Center, has been named Deputy Director, Research. Bone marrow transplant expert Neal Flomenberg, M.D., interim chair and professor of Medical Oncology at Jefferson Medical College, has been named Deputy Director, Clinical Science.

Thomas Jefferson University Choir and Orchestra Perform Free Holiday Concert

Jefferson Scientists Find Cell Growth Protein Potential Drug Target for Treatment-Resistant Prostate Cancer
(Published 12-31-2007) Scientists at Jefferson’s Kimmel Cancer Center in Philadelphia have found that a signaling protein that is key to prostate cancer cell growth is turned on in nearly all recurrent prostate cancers that are resistant to hormone therapy. If the findings hold up, the protein, called Stat5, may be a specific drug target against an extremely difficult-to-treat cancer.
