Jefferson Heart Doctors are Among First in U.S. to Use Coated Stents
(Aired 4-25-2003, NBC10) Just one day after it was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Jefferson cardiologists
were among the first in the United States to use coated stents to help their patients suffering from blockage in their coronary
arteries. Coated stents are a major improvement over traditional stents because they contain a drug to prevent scar tissue
from forming in the newly opened artery.
NBC10 Health Reporter Cherie Bank interviewed Cam DiGregorio of Northeast Philadelphia as he was being prepped to receive
the new device to help relieve chest pain.
