You have the right to initiate and/or participate in the discussion of ethical issues surrounding your care. The Hospital Ethics Committee can help to support you through the process of making difficult decisions. The committee is composed of members of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital including physicians, nurses, social workers, administration, house staff clergy and members of the community.  It meets on a monthly basis, but is available to convene when needed for consultations.  To request a consultation with a member of the Ethics Committee, please speak with your doctor or nurse, or call the Patient Services office at 215-955-7777 or 5-7777(internally).

The Hospital Ethics Committee recommends that all patients and family members review and complete an Advanced Directive.  To  learn more about Advanced Directives, please speak with your doctor or nurse.
