Research

The CVIR faculty have wide ranging research interests and experience. Past accomplishments include: Jefferson was the first institution to use intra-arterial stents and has acquired one of the largest experiences with this procedure; published the most complete studies on the effectiveness of thrombolysis to treat thrombosed arterial bypass grafts; and published the major studies on the hemodynamics of failing hemodialysis grafts and the importance of a screening program. Four of the five attending staff have been Associate Editors, and/or on the Editorial Board of Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, and three have been Associate Editors of Radiology. Faculty have also had leadership roles in the SCVIR. The division has and continues to participate in many national registries and clinical research protocols.
