The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Division supervises and interprets examinations from more than a dozen MRI units, from .3 to 3.0 Telsa.  There are two state-of-the-art fully configured MRI systems in the main department, and nearby outpatient facilities at Jefferson Center City Imaging, Jefferson Hospital for the Neurosciences, and the Rothman Institute.  Additional satellite MRI centers are located in Langhorne, King of Prussia, Northeast Philadelphia, Doylestown, and the Virginia Islands.

The MRI division is responsible for all body MRI and cardiovascular and peripheral vascular studies, and some musculoskeletal studies.  The volume of body studies interpreted daily by this service is among the highest in the country.  Daily staffing is by body MRI specialist attendings, full-year body MRI, combined MRI, and abdominal fellows, as well as residents throughout their training.  Numerous research projects, including extrenally funded protocols, are in progress and future studies are continually being planned.
