Jefferson’s multidisciplinary Thoracic Oncology Center provides care for patients with newly diagnosed lung cancer and those suspected of having lung cancer. The program provides consultation for the patient and recommendations to the personal or primary-care physician. The program offers new or experimental therapies when conventional therapies have proven ineffective or inappropriate.

The multidisciplinary team includes radiation and medical oncology specialists with extensive expertise in treating lung cancer, as well as thoracic surgeons, pulmonary disease specialists, radiologists, nurses and social workers. The center is at the forefront of using new drugs and new combinations of radiation therapy, surgery and chemotherapy to improve survival of patients with every type of lung cancer. The center offers patients entry into national trials of new treatment regimens against lung cancers.
