Jefferson physiatrists have been leaders in rehabilitation medicine for more than 30 years. A team of occupational, physical
and speech therapists, neuropsychologists, nurse specialists, social workers and vocational counselors support the full-time
staff of board-certified specialists. In affiliation with Magee Rehabilitation Hospital, the department makes possible Jefferson's
Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center.
A variety of additional programs and centers based in the department serve a large population of patients representing virtually
all rehabilitation needs. The department has longstanding expertise in caring for patients with stroke and other vascular
disease and in caring for amputees. It has the area's earliest established cardiac rehabilitation program, and it treats many
patients who suffer from circulatory problems and neuropathy secondary to diabetes.
