The Comprehensive Acute Rehabilitation Unit at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital is available for those persons in need of intensive inpatient rehabilitative services. The General Rehabilitation Program offered serves adults with neurologic, orthopedic, oncological, medical or surgical impairments and/or disabilities. The Spinal Cord Injury Program is part of the Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center of the Delaware Valley. The Stroke Specialty Program serves adults who have suffered a stroke.

The goal of the program is to maximize the functional independence of the persons served and transition them to the community.

The unit’s interdisciplinary team of Rehabilitation Physicians, Rehabilitation Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Language Pathologists, Social Workers/Case Managers, Psychologists and Therapeutic Recreation Specialists provides high-quality care. The team has a broad complement of skilled consultants available who can provide monitoring and treatment during the period of rehabilitation.

The Comprehensive Acute Rehabilitation Unit is nationally accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation and Stroke Speciality Program.
