Educational Opportunites

The Department of Pharmacy is committed to providing comprehensive educational programs for our students, residents, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and other healthcare providers. Members of our department view pharmacy education as an essential means to meeting patient needs at Jefferson Hospital and the healthcare needs of our surrounding community. In fact, the influence of our department is felt far beyond our community since international pharmacists and pharmacy students visit Thomas Jefferson University Hospital regularly to learn about contemporary clinical pharmacy programs. Through this endeavor, the Department of Pharmacy contributes its expertise to the development of professional models that enhance patient care throughout the world.

We strongly believe that teaching is an important role for today’s pharmacist. We encourage all of our pharmacists and pharmacy residents to serve as role models in the clinical education process and to participate in various levels of didactic instruction. The department is also committed to educating preceptors and providing opportunities for preceptor development.

Through our strong affiliation with the Jefferson School of Pharmacy (JSP), University of the Sciences in Philadelphia (USP), and the Temple University School of Pharmacy, our staff has the opportunity to instruct numerous doctor of pharmacy students each year. In addition, many members of the department maintain adjunct faculty appointments at JSP, USP, and at Temple University’s School of Pharmacy.
