Meet Our Radiology Imaging Staff

Kay, Ultrasound

Kay moved to the United States from Nigeria when he was 16. He knew that he wanted some type of medical career, but he wasn't sure what, so he volunteered at Mercer County Hospital. Fortuitously, he was assigned to the radiology department. It was there that ultrasound first piqued his interest, and soon he enrolled in Thomas Jefferson University's (TJU's) College of Health Professions Diagnostic Imaging Program in Ultrasound.

In his final semester of TJU's program, he completed an internship in Jefferson Hospital's own division of ultrasound. After graduation, he was asked to stay on at the Hospital as a full-time employee and has been here working as a general sonographer for two years. "There are not a lot of places you can go where you have the opportunity to learn so much in one place as here," Kay says, "At Jefferson, you have the chance to develop your career however you want—it's up to you. For example, right now, I am training to specialize in musculoskeletal ultrasound, which is very rewarding."
