Linda, Radiology Nursing, Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology
Unit
Linda is one of a relatively new hybrid healthcare professional—the radiology
nurse. "This is an up and coming profession," Linda explains, "I work
in the CVIR unit as well as in the Ultrasound division—anywhere there
is an invasive procedure." As a nurse manager, Linda oversees all of the
radiology nurses who work in both of these divisions as well.
Growing up in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, Linda knew she wanted to be
a nurse since she was 3 years old. Right after high school and her first
two years at Immaculata College, she chose to attend Thomas Jefferson
University's College of Health Profession's School of Nursing. After graduation,
she worked at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Delaware County, where she lived
and raised her family. There, she became an intensive care nurse, specializing
in cardiac care nursing. When Riddle began its cardiac catheterization
program, Linda began working with the team there and eventually became
the nurse manager there, overseeing the radiology special studies procedure
room for the Hospital.
A year ago, a position as nurse manager in Jefferson's Cardiovascular/Interventional
Radiology Division opened and Linda was hired. She's now using her Jefferson
tuition benefits to complete her masters. Her daughter, who is now is
college, is considering a career in nursing. If she does, and she chooses
to attend Jefferson's Nursing school, she will be eligible for a substantial
Tuition Discount Benefit for Dependents offered to the children and spouses
of eligible Jefferson employees who wish to attend Thomas Jefferson University's
College of Health Professions. (For more information on this benefit,
contact the Department of Human Resources at 215-503-8100.)
