About Dr. Maley

Dr. Maley graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed all of his surgical training at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Following residency he received fellowship training in both Gastrointestinal Surgery and multi-organ transplantation also at Hopkins. Dr. Maley has been involved in the development of multiple strategies for the expansion of organ transplantation to serve a greater number of patients in need. While on staff at Hopkins he initiated the Adult Live Donor Liver Transplant Program in 1998. He was a member of the team performing Kidney Paired Donation Swaps for the transplantation of incompatible donor and recipient pairs. His recent research has focused upon use of extended criteria donor organs and donor after cardiac death grafts in liver transplantation, as efforts to safely expand the available donor pool. Dr. Maley was recently recruited to Philadelphia to head the Live Donor Liver Transplant Program at Jefferson.
