About Dr. Navarro:
Victor J. Navarro, MD, is Medical Director of the Hepatology and Liver Transplantation Program at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He is also Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Navarro joined the staff of Jefferson from the Merck Research Laboratories where he was associate director, Clinical Pharmacology, and adjunct assistant professor of Medicine and Epidemiology at Yale University School of Medicine. Prior to that he was medical director for Liver Transplantation at Yale University and Yale New Haven Hospital as well as director of the Liver Study Unit in the Connecticut Emerging Infections Program and assistant professor of Medicine and Epidemiology.

Dr. Navarro’s numerous honors and awards include: the Sol Sherry Award for Excellence in Clinical Research while at Temple University Hospital resulting from his research and publication concerning severe Group A Streptoccal infections; The Howard Spiro-Yale University Faculty Teaching Award; American Liver Foundation, Connecticut Chapter, Physician Recognition Award; State of Connecticut, General Assembly Official Citation for service in the area of Digestive Diseases and the Connecticut Governor's Citation in recognition of work in the area of liver disease, research and transplantation.

Dr. Navarro's research interests include chronic liver disease epidemiology, drug-associated liver toxicity, non-alcohol fatty liver disease, and Hepatitis C in minority populations. His professional memberships include the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, American College of Physicians, American Gastroenterology Association and American Society of Transplant Physicians. He is a United Network of Organ Sharing recognized transplant physician.

He has presented his research and lectured widely at regional, national, and international meetings and is the co-author of publications in many peer-reviewed journals. He serves on the editorial board or as a reviewer for various journals in his field.
